ADR Packages Training: Drums, IBCs, Cylinders and Mixed Loads
Packaged dangerous goods training for distribution, parcel, trade counter and clinical waste work, where the difficulty is segregation and load limits rather than product handling.
The ADR packages module covers dangerous goods carried in receptacles rather than in bulk: drums, intermediate bulk containers, boxes, cans and gas cylinders. It suits distribution, builders merchant, laboratory supply and clinical waste work, where a single vehicle may hold several hazard classes at once.
The problem packages training solves
A tanker carries one product. A packaged goods vehicle can carry a pallet of acid, a cage of aerosols and a box of lithium batteries on the same run. Getting that combination legal, segregated and correctly documented is the whole job, and it is where drivers without training come unstuck.
What you will be able to do afterwards
- 1Read a consignment note and identify what you are actually carrying.
- 2Check labels, marks and orientation arrows before anything goes on the vehicle.
- 3Apply segregation rules so incompatible classes are not loaded together.
- 4Work out whether a load sits under or over the threshold that changes your obligations.
- 5Place, secure and restrain packages so nothing shifts on a multi drop route.
- 6Follow the written instructions and use the equipment carried on the vehicle if something leaks.
Cylinders deserve their own mention
Gas cylinders under Class 2 turn up in plumbing, welding, hospitality and medical supply, and they behave differently to liquids in drums. Ventilation, upright carriage, valve protection and what to do after a knock all come up on the course because they come up on the job.

Yes. ADR applies to the goods, not the size of the vehicle, and plenty of packaged dangerous goods move on C1 vehicles.
Take the ones your work actually involves. Most distribution drivers cover Classes 3, 8 and 9, and add Class 2 if cylinders are on the round.
The cost depends on the number of modules and classes rather than the format. Give us your list and we will price it exactly.
Clinical waste work generally means core plus packages with Class 6, and employers often specify it in the advert.

Best experience for driver training I've come across! 1st time pass on my class 1 with ease. Tom top lad easy to get on with and plenty experience and Davey is brand new helped out a lot through the process.
