Category C (Class 2) training in Glasgow costs £1,695 and qualifies you to drive rigid lorries over 3,500kg. The price includes your medical, theory and case study, study material, 16 hours of in-vehicle training and your driving test.
A Category C licence allows you to drive rigid vehicles over 3.5 tonnes, up to 32 tonnes. These are what most people would recognise as a standard lorry, where the cab and body are fixed together (not articulated).
This is the most common entry point into HGV driving and is ideal if you're looking to start a career in the transport and logistics industry.
With a Category C licence, you can drive a wide range of vehicles used in:

The route to your Class 2 licence
Category C has more stages than a car licence, so we set the order out clearly and book each part for you rather than leaving you to chase DVLA and DVSA yourself.

What you learn during Category C training
Training is one-to-one and built around the DVSA test, but also around the work you will actually be doing. You spend your hours on the roads around Glasgow rather than only on a practice pad.
- Vehicle safety questions and walk-round checks
- Controlled reversing into a bay within the marked area
- Gear selection, hill starts and braking for a loaded rigid vehicle
- Junctions, roundabouts and lane discipline in city traffic
- Uncoupling knowledge, load security and daily defect reporting
Category C or C+E — which should you take?
Category C covers rigid vehicles, where the cab and body are one unit. Category C+E adds articulated and drawbar combinations. You can train directly for C+E, but many drivers take Category C first because it is a shorter course and a lower up-front cost, then upgrade once they are working.
If you already have an employer in mind, ask them which category they need. Rigid work tends to be local and regional; artic work is more often trunking and long distance.
Adding Driver CPC and ADR
A vocational licence on its own is not enough to drive professionally. You also need Driver CPC, which we run from £55 per seven-hour course. If you want tanker, fuel or chemical work, ADR training from £496 is the qualification employers ask for.

Once I passed my theory/hazard perception test, I the took my C1 training with Jordan, who made my driving experience a pleasure, Jordan was patient and made me feel at ease the whole time I was driving: advising on things I might change and letting me know when I had driven well etc, really relaxed me to the point of passing my test 1st time after 10hrs of lessons. Best experience for driver training I've come across! 1st time pass on my class 1 with ease. Tom top lad easy to get on with and plenty experience and Davey is brand new helped out a lot through the process.
