Why refresher training matters if the CPC never expires

Once you pass the Transport Manager CPC, the certificate is yours for life. The job, though, keeps moving. Drivers' hours enforcement, tachograph technology, maintenance standards and operator licence guidance are all updated over time. A transport manager who qualified some years ago and has not looked at the rules since can end up running systems that no longer match what the Traffic Commissioner expects. If an operator is called to a public inquiry, being able to show recent training is part of showing that the transport manager has continuous and effective control.

What a transport manager CPC refresher covers

Content is built around the duties you carry day to day rather than the full exam syllabus. Expect to work through the operator licence undertakings and how to evidence them, drivers' hours and working time, tachograph data analysis and infringement follow-up, preventative maintenance and defect reporting, driver licence and CPC checks, and how to prepare for a DVSA visit or an operator licence review. Refresher or the full course?

If you do not yet hold the Transport Manager CPC, a refresher is not the right booking. The full qualification is £1,300 as a ten-day classroom course in Glasgow, or £950 as a live online course on Microsoft Teams, available UK-wide. If you hold the CPC and need an update, refresher training is the more focused option.
